Spring Practice Period Class Series

“Oryoki, often translated as “just the right amount,” is a highly choreographed ritual of serving and eating food—a ceremonial dance of giving, receiving, and appreciation.”
-John Kain, Tricycle Magazine, Fall 2003

This spring we will study the traditional 3-bowl eating used at AZG during day sits and sesshin. We will begin by reading and understanding the origins of the practice, but primarily we will engage hands-on with preparing bowls, practicing eating together in the formal way, and learning how to cook and serve this way of ‘just enough’.
The final class date is May 26; 1:30-3pm. Tell Elvira that you would like to be in the class. She will provide the study materials to all who sign up.
