“A bodhisattva is an ordinary person who takes up a course in his or her life
that moves in the direction of Buddha. You and I, actually, anyone who
directs their attention, their life, to practicing the way of life of a Buddha is
a bodhisattva.”

- Kosho Uchiyama, in Tricycle magazine

Beginning with understanding the relationship of the four Bodhisattva
Vows to the original teachings of the Buddha (the Four Noble Truths), in
this series we will study each facet of the Eight-fold Path. Our capacity for
clarifying our views, thoughts, speech, actions, livelihoods, efforts,
mindfulness and concentration determines our capacity for being stable
and trustworthy. Specifically, we will address the ways in which supporting
and encouraging each other on the Path makes for a wholesome and
reliable community of practitioners, ready to be of service in the world.
